Transform trauma and recalibrate your nervous system with the Triple Vagal Method

The Triple Vagal Method

Heal your nervous system

The Triple Vagal Method (TVM) is a somatic trauma therapy to help individuals release trauma/stress, regulate nervous system responses, and manage overwhelming emotions.

TVM is a hands-on method of applied Poly Vagal Theory. The modality utilizes somatic body work via physical manipulation of the vagus nerve to stimulate the release of therapeutic levels of oxytocin and help the nervous system process trauma/stress.

What is the Triple Vagal Method?

The Triple Vagal Method (TVM) is a somatic healing therapy that relies on your body's innate intelligence to heal.

The TVM practitioner encourages the body to release oxytocin, which calms the body and allows the nervous system to feel safe to process trauma.

The practitioner then applies pressure to varies parts of the body in order to activate the vagus nerve and process trauma. Over the course of TVM sessions, the nervous system will process unresolved trauma/stress while vagal tone is strengthened.

The net result is the rewiring of the nervous system for improved self-regulation. This approach ensures safe and efficient outcomes by activating the nervous system through tactile stimulation.

What to expect from a TVM session

TVM works with the vagus nerve, a major component of the parasympathetic nervous system responsible for regulating bodily functions and promoting relaxation, to help individuals shift from states of hyperarousal (sympathetic dominance) or hypoarousal (dorsal vagal dominance) to a state of safety and social engagement.

Meet Richard Casteel

Triple Vagel Method Practitioner

I am driven by a genuine interest in consciousness, where I seek to understand the depths of the human mind, body, and spirit connection. This journey has been marked by resilience, creativity, and a desire to inspire others to explore the horizons of the self and the world around them.

My deepest exploration has been the healing of my own wounds, in which TVM was a big component in helping me understand and regulate my nervous system. I had tried about every healing modality but still felt stuck until I found TVM. This process of transformation inspired me to become a TVM practitioner to share this beautiful method with others.

My background includes a Master of Arts (MA) in psychology, complemented by a wide range of consciousness experiences, extensive knowledge of meditation, and a 200-hour Kundalini Yoga training. Initially drawn to counseling, my path led me to become a photographer and artist, yet my desire to assist others persisted. Becoming a TVM practitioner has rekindled that passion, and I am thrilled to offer this transformative modality to those in need.

What to expect from a TVM Session

Step 1

Grounding

I begin by helping the individual ground themselves in the present moment with a relaxing guided meditation.

Step 2

Engagement

I then will apply light pressure with my hands to various points on the body. This acts to encourage the body to release oxytocin and to activate the vagus nerve.

Step 3

Self-Regulation

Over the course of a number of sessions the body will learn how to self regulate. We can also discuss and practice self regulation techniques.

It is recommended to have at least 6 sessions. Some people are able to self regulate much more effectively after 6 sessions and then decide to have maintenance sessions every so often. As healing is different for everyone some people feel they need more sessions. A goal of the Triple Vagal Method is to teach the body to self regulate so that you do not need us anymore!

What clients are saying about TVM

The polyvagal theory states that persistent engagement of our autonomic nervous system in defensive activities, such as trauma or prolonged stress, harms both physical and mental well-being due to an imbalance in its branches of the autonomic nervous system. Learn more….
